Watts Believe was founded in 2022 by two Watts natives, Cartashia Perkins and Sherika Simms. Both founders have deep roots in the community and have dedicated their lives to improving the quality of life in their neighborhood.
Founding and Early Years: Perkins and Simms established Watts Believe after witnessing firsthand the various systemic issues that plagued their community, including economic disparities, lack of educational resources, and environmental challenges. The organization emerged from a series of community meetings and discussions where residents expressed their concerns and needs.
Initial Projects: In its early years, Watts Believe focused on addressing immediate community needs through several key initiatives:
